To discuss these critical steps, SUSE, Nextcloud, OpenProject and OpenNebula Systems are hosting this invite-only forum in Brussels. The event brings together institutional leaders, policymakers, and industry executives for an exchange designed for genuine dialogue rather than broadcast. The centerpiece of the evening is a structured roundtable, bridging the gap between European policy and the practical digital ecosystem.
The Open Source First Coalition
Since March, a growing coalition of European open source companies has been actively championing this cause. Companies across the EU—including SUSE, Nextcloud, Element, OpenProject, OpenNebula Systems, and others—have signed an open letter to the Commission, Parliament, and EU Governments calling for Open Source First as a binding procurement requirement. The letter outlines why geographic location alone does not equal sovereignty, and what a binding open source requirement would actually achieve.
Read the letter and the full signatory list.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet coalition signatories directly, explore what the European open source industry can deliver, and discuss how the co-legislative process engages with the market.
Spaces are limited to ensure a high-quality networking experience. Register your interest to attend today.
