    Design Principles of Edge AI

    As AI workloads push beyond the data centre and into the operational fabric of industry, the question is no longer whether to deploy at the edge but whether organisations have the architectural discipline to do it at scale. This keynote draws on IDC Edge and services research to frame the critical design principles that technical leaders must apply when building Edge AI infrastructure across IT and OT environments. Australia's geographic scale makes it a defining test case: from SCADA systems and warehouse automation to point-of-sale networks and connected logistics fleets, the last-mile edge is unforgiving. Infrastructure must be deployable in remote and resource-constrained conditions, resilient enough to operate under DDIL (disconnected, degraded, and intermittent) scenarios, and manageable across a distributed footprint that spans thousands of kilometres. Sovereignty and data governance add a further layer of complexity, particularly as organisations balance operational agility with regulatory obligation. For technical directors, architects, and platform owners, this session will cut through the noise and establish a principled framework for Industrial Edge design, one that is deployable by necessity, scalable by design, and sovereign by intent.

    Full-Stack Supply Chain Security: From Secure Build Systems to Kubernetes Runtime Protection

    As Kubernetes dominates modern infrastructure, securing the software supply chain is critical. This session explores high-assurance strategies, bridging traditional EAL4+ standards with SLSA L3 frameworks and the potential for L4. We examine provenance and SBOM assurance, focusing on build system security and the lifecycle of artefact signing and verification.

    Attendees will learn to navigate key control points: secure registries, artefact/SBOM scanners, and admission controllers for strict policy enforcement.
